Mic-C – Candyland

…it. This style of beat fits Mic’s style really well as opposed to some seizure inducing crunk beat. Good track. Good 9. Can You Handle(Feat Ballin A$$ Dame) The beat sounds like that one Vegas level on Sonic 2, same sound and everything. The chorus is mindnumbingly stupid and overall just a weak track. Wack 10. Ghetto Police(Feat Hollow Tip) Decent piano here with some weird synth type bass, that’s a bit of a styles clash of beat styles there. Ho… Continue reading

UGK – Underground Kingz

…y type track by Pimp C, and I dig it. I mean, there’s really nothing that distinguishes it from other funky type tracks on this album, but it’s still good. Good. 10. Like That Oh man, LiL Jon produces a really bad track. Like, really, really bad; it’s very sloppy, and in turn, makes UGK rap horribly. I’ve never been annoyed by Pimp C, and I was annoyed. This was horrible. Train Wreck. 11. Next Up (Feat Big Daddy Kane & Kool G Rap) What odd guest a… Continue reading

B.G – It’s All On U Vol. 2

…aring his status as a ‘livin legend’. 6 years before the release of his album of the same name, and only 4 albums into his career, B.G. provides proof he was already a legend in the game. Great song, with even better production by Mannie Fresh. 5.) Hot Boys 226 feat. Hot Boys B.G.’s delivery on this song is noticabley strong, keeping up with Fresh’s upbeat bassline driven production. Lil Wayne makes for a strong guest appearence, as does Juvenile… Continue reading

Necro – Death Rap

…ract backpacker territory (‘artistically, sadictically, statistically, realistically, pistol whip thee’ on the hardcore influenced Suffocated To Death By God’s Shadow or ‘sanguinary, biochemistry, chemotherapy, chemical treatment, criminal cemetary, symmatry’ from the aformentioned Exploitation). His mastery of flow also dominates the hardcore track Suffocated where he keeps pace with the breakneck rhythm laid down by Mike Smith and Steve DiGiorgi… Continue reading

Necro – The Murder Murder Kill Kill Double EP – 7.6/10

…ble EP fulfills it’s purpose as it keeps the momentum from the outstanding DIE! album going while it serves as an appetizer for great things to come. In that regard in seems kind of unfair to fault the album for being a bit slight on songs, verses and polish. It also illustrates that after all these years Necro hasn’t run out of steam and has enough ideas in his warped mind for more than a few new full length LP’s down the line. This record could… Continue reading

Tha Realest – Witness Tha Realest Mixtape

…ver, is obviously the deepest song on the entire mixtape. Over a dark instrumental complete with violin chords, Tha Realest pours his heart into this one. Good song. 9.) Ridin feat. LBG, Bonecrusher: This is yet another attempt at an East Coast crossover. While Bonecrusher rides the beat perfectly, and doesn’t dissapoint in the least, Tha Realest shows once again, while his style’s just not suited for NY flavored hip hop. Decent track, for Bonecru… Continue reading

Prodigy – Return Of The Mac

…side of the album. 10.) 7th Heaven: To contrast the mellow vibe of the album, Alchemist serves P with some uptempo funk. A threatening Prodigy demonstrates the gangsta image he brought to the game back in ’95. Above average track. 11.) Bang On Em: Another mellow track, featuring Prodigy at his best. Not as lyrical as previous tracks, it’s more of P’s bragadocious side. This is more reminiscent of “H.N.I.C.”, with Prodigy detailing “All I care abo… Continue reading

K-Os – Joyful Rebellion

…gins with Os commenting on the state of the industry and rap music, then becomes a simplistic but organic-sounding cut, a regretful guitar over violins while K-Os spits a nice verse, not very flow-heavy but really quality lyricism. The sung hook is a nice touch, with improvised rapid riffs. (Great) 2) Crucial Os brings a more reggaeish feel to this one, though still throwing in riffs here and there. He sings the whole track, the gist of which is “… Continue reading

VA – Beef Soundtrack

…later put on Urban Legendz, I wrote a review for this a while back and I listened to the track more so this is going to be totally different. Skatter’s verse is easily the best as he tells a great story. Snug has a good verse. Skarfo has a decent verse. Good 6. Drama(Prodigy Feat Twin) Nice guitarish style beat here but Prodigy sucks anyway and Twin is worse. Average 7. Real Muthaph****in’ G’s(Eazy E Feat BG Knoccout & Dre’sta) I think this song… Continue reading

Cablez – The Movement

…eat Fue and Sonny Garcia (produced by Hella Tight) When fellow Mob Life artists comes together for a track expect a hot one. Not only are they doing a dope job with their lyrics, the beat is also banging (once again Hella makes it tight like his name). The hook is nicely done by them all. I like how they manage to rep for them self and Moblife on this track. Tight track! 22) Mutulu Shakur Outro (produced by Hella Tight) Mutulu Shakur is speaking t… Continue reading
