Ruff Ryders – Ryde or Die Volume 1

Artist(s): Ruff Ryders Title: Ryde or Die Volume 1 Label: Ruff Ryders/Interscope Year: 1999 1. Ryde or Die (Lox, DMX, Drag-On, Eve) Really tight song. True banger. Everyone is great. Drag-On’s verse is especially good. LOX, DMX and Eve come off nicely. The production by Swizz is awesome. Im not sure but I think this was the first single from the album. 2. Down Bottom (Drag-On, Juvenile) Swizz comes with another banger. The beat just makes you nod… Continue reading

50 Cent – The Massacre

…he rappers, million of dollars he even went 10x platinum with his debut album ‘Get rich or die tryin’ He is now back with ‘The Massacre. This being his make or break record 50 Cent would have to make sure this was flawless. So did he do what he went out to do and massacre the rest of the charts or massacre his career? The Game – The Documentary 2

…re. It’s a nice little track, but I’m not impressed. As on any other platinum artists album, Snoop makes a guest appearance. The Game enters the track late and makes it a little rawer with a few bars about Compton and gangs of L.A. When reviewing a sequel album like The Documentary 2, it’s impossible not to compare it to the original. All in all, this album is much more mellow and soulistic than the first album. While The Documentary had Dr. Dre t… Continue reading

Ja Rule – Rule 3:36

…own Christina Milian, this is Ja’s first real attempt at catering to the ladies, on the album. The song managed to cross over, and help the album sell millions, but the song itself lacks. Milian’s simple and repetitive chorus, and Ja’s constant yelling make for a lackluster track. 4.) Put It On Me feat. Vita This song (the 2nd hit from the album) was a much better choice for a single. Ja’s now famous “What would I be without you?!”, and harmonizin… Continue reading

Mobb Deep – Blood Money

…rs are plastered all over the track listing. This is to pull in a bigger audience, a different audience. While this does bring in more it also isolates some of their hardcore older fans. The first song with a G-unit member is “Stole Money” where Lloyd Banks joins the Mobb Deep lads over again a very simple beat from a few organ hits but seems to work. After this, a flood of featuring slots is let in, with the other G-Unit members featuring on an e… Continue reading

Mr. Doctor – Documentary

…od 14. All The Deals, All The Work Another skit, people didn’t buy your album to listen to these, just saying. 15. So Crazy(Feat Savina Hail & Vero) Soft type beat which is pretty dope actually, I’m not really into slow type love tracks but this beat is really good and Doc’s flow is pretty tight. Good track. Good 16. Bust Back(Feat Foe Loco & Lo-Cel) Nice to see an Odysea member on here. Track has a pretty dope gangsta type beat, I just don’t like… Continue reading
